We participated into Halberg TRI Challenge, at Spark Arena.
Arena was full of uplifting atmosphere, music and MC, clapping and cheering.
Our turn was at 11am.
Eddie was on COGY for running part, other 2 of us were on rowing machine and biking machine.
Eddie broke his neck about 4 years ago, and he is a powered chair user since then. Recently, he started using COGY for his rehabilitation/training. He also finished Round The Bays Auckland (8.5km) on COGY this March.
5 teams performed at 11am, including us.
There was 2 "vehicles" on running part on our turn. One is Eddie's COGY, the other was a boy on hand-cycle. 2 of them peddled around in circles.
We did not have extra supporters as other teams do, then I shouted to Eddie while I rowed. "Go Eddie!!". Then MC spotted me shouting to Eddie, and she kindly copied me. "Go Eddie, your team mate is cheering for you!", then now, everyone in the arena knows his name.
I am not sure how much other spectator cheered at Eddie, but I guess it was a lot. Because, Eddie finally showed then off his COGY technique, by doing sharp donuts in front of them. Again, MC picked it up, "Wow Eddie's making donuts!! fantastic!"
Eddie also enjoyed the company of the hand-cycle boy. They took a photo together after the session. Be sweaty together, make our heart thump together. That's the best way to make friends, isn't it?
Eddie had a great fun. We had a great fun.
